From the recording Home
After consuming a large amount of the cheap booze, the boy is drunk for the first time in his life. He feels a surge of confidence and invincibility running through him. He’s now walking to the dance along a path where the old railway tracks used to run. In his mind, every good thing he’s ever imagined is at the tip of his fingers.
Lyrics
The Walk
I’ve been waiting for tonight since I heard the news
Summer Dance, one more chance, no way I can lose
When I get goin’… I’ll tell you what it’s like to be alive
Something in the night is telling me it’s gonna be
Everything I want and everything I need
When I get goin’… I’ll tell you what it’s like to be alive

Take another drink and I feel my body grow
Above the trees, above the hills, ain’t nothin’ I don’t know
When I get goin’… I’ll tell you what it’s like to be alive
Every little part of me feels like a king
Walk the walk, talk the talk, feel all that it brings
When I get goin’… I’ll tell you what it’s like to be alive
